at the 8th IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communication (PerCom'10)
Mannheim, Germany March 29 - April 2, 2010
Pervasive 2010, the Eighth International Conference on Pervasive Computing, will be held 17-20 May 2010 in Helsinki, Finland.
This annual conference provides a premier forum for researchers to present their latest results in all areas related to architecture, design, implementation, application and evaluation of pervasive computing as it integrates into our lives.
Pervasive 2010 builds on the success of previous conferences in this series held in Zurich (August 2002), in Linz/Vienna (April 2004), in Munich (May 2005), in Dublin (May 2006), Toronto (May 2007), Sydney (May 2008) and Nara (May 2009). Pervasive 2010 will include a highly selective single-track program for technical papers.
We welcome high quality papers, either Full papers (max 18 pages) or Notes (max 8 pages), that describe original and unpublished research advancing the state of the art in mobile and pervasive computing, including but not limited to the following topics:
Both Full paper and Notes submissions should provide important and ripe contributions in the field. Submissions can be accompanied by a video and/or demo in the programme.
We anticipate that contributions should be relevant and grounded within Pervasive Computing and authors should write assuming a broad interdisciplinary Pervasive computing audience.
Note that papers should not have been previously published or be concurrently under submission for publication for any other conference, journal, workshop or other publication with an ISBN, ISSN, or DOI number.
All papers will be peer-reviewed by members of the Pervasive 2010 program committee and additional expert reviewers drawn from relevant research communities.
Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of originality, significance of the contribution to the field, technical correctness and presentation. If a submitted paper may appear to overlap with the previously published or simultaneously reviewed work, the authors should email the Program Co-Chairs directly to explain how the new work represents a unique and substantial new contribution.
Full Papers should include a thorough survey of related work positioning the contribution, a comprehensive, detailed and comprehensible explanation of a device, system, study, theory or method (sufficient for replicability), and compelling validation of the work. Full Papers can be up to 18 pages in LNCS format http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-72376-0.
Notes should be succinct but complete contributions. Notes will be reviewed in the same process with Full Papers, and will appear in the proceedings and the conference programme. Notes can be up to 8 pages in LNCS format http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-72376-0.
Successful submissions typically break new ground and provide substantial support for results and conclusions. The different length of Full Papers (18 pages) and Notes (8 pages) allows authors to choose an appropriate submission category based on the amount of contribution or scope of the work. Consider carefully whether a Full Paper or Note submission is more appropriate, as there will be no mechanism for re-considering a submitted Full Paper as a Note.
All paper submissions will be handled electronically. The submission process will be described at Submission Page http://www.pervasive2010.org/submission.html.
Paper submissions must be anonymized to facilitate blind review. Authors are encouraged to take care throughout the entire document to minimise oblique and overt references and citations that may reveal the identity of the authors or their institutions. Relevant references to an author's previous research should not be suppressed but instead referenced in a neutral way.

KR 2010: Twelfth International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
Toronto, Canada, May 9-13, 2010.
IEEE PerCom, now at its eighth edition, is the premier scholarly venue
in the areas of pervasive computing and communications, which aim at
providing a ubiquitous platform for supporting exciting anytime and
anyplace services paradigms. Pervasive computing and communications is
a natural outcome of the tremendous advances of a broad spectrum of
technologies including wireless networking, sensor networks, mobile and
distributed computing, and agent technologies. PerCom 2010 will provide
a high profile, leading edge forum for researchers and engineers alike
to present state-of-the-art research in the respective fields of
pervasive computing and communications. The conference will feature a
diverse mixture of presentation forums including core technical
sessions, several targeted workshops, demonstrations, keynote speeches
and panel discussions from domain experts.

Research contributions are solicited in all areas pertinent to pervasive computing and communications, including:
Many workshops will be held in conjunction with the main conference. Workshop papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital libraries (Xplore), showing their affiliation with IEEE PerCom. As in the past, PerCom 2010 will also feature a PhD Forum, Demonstrations and a Work-in-Progress Session. Please visit the conference website for details.
2009 Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (25th ACSAC)
Welcome to ACSAC 2009! We are looking forward to a great conference! This year marks our 25th year anniversary, and we are celebrating it with a special location: Hawaii!
ACSAC has a tradition of bringing together security professionals from academia, government and industry who are interested in applied security. It is an internationally recognized forum where practitioners, researchers, and developers in information system security meet to learn and to exchange practical ideas and experiences. Started in 1984, the conference has grown over the years to achieve worldwide attendance and recognition for the high quality of its presentations, discussions, and interactions.
If you are developing practical solutions to problems relating to network, system and information security, the you should consider submitting your work to ACSAC and attending in December. We provide in-depth tutorials on current security topics, workshop on hot topics, case studies on best practices, panels on controversial subjects and a technical track consisting of peer-reviewed papers. This year we are also adding a poster session where presenters can demonstrate late-breaking results.
All these sessions and tutorials are fully qualified as Continuing Education credits toward CISSP and similar security certifications. We also offer conferenceships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend the conference.
We are planning several very special events this year to mark our 25th year anniversary and make this the best ACSAC yet, so mark your calendars now and plan to attend!
Dr. Carrie Gates

The web continues to grow and increasing amounts of data are available for human and machine consumption, processing, and re-dissemination. As Semantic Web technologies (including linked data approaches) mature and become usable by end-users we can expect to encounter new technologies, modes of interactions, and applications that enable us to "surf" this web of data. These new approaches give rise to new challenges - both from a technical and human-computer interaction perspective.
The goal of the research track at ISWC is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and users from the areas of artificial intelligence, databases, social networks, distributed computing, web engineering, information systems, natural language processing, soft computing, and human-computer interaction to discuss the biggest challenges and proposed solutions. It solicits the submission of original, principled research papers dealing with both analytical theoretical, empirical, and practical aspects of all areas of Semantic Web research. Papers to the research track are expected to clearly present their contribution and provide some well-principled means of evaluation. We especially encourage papers that ensure the repeatability of their experiments and share with the community their data and test harnesses.
